I was absent on Thursday’s 24/7/08 lesson, so I am reflecting on Tuesday’s 30/7/08 lesson.

1. Describe TWO things that you have learnt during this lesson.

  1. One thing that I have learn’t during this lesson is that most issues in the world today can be classified as both a “social Justice Issue” and a “moral Issue”.
  2. Another thing that I have learn’t during this lesson is the difference between a social justice issue and a moral issue.

2. Identify TWO areas you want to concentrate on during this project that you think need a greater improvement from the last project.

  1. One area would probably be to communicate and cooperate more and better with my group members.
  2. Another area would be to be a little more orginised with work, and particulary with the group folder.

3. Discuss TWO ways in which your group could resolve any disputes during this process.

  1. One way is that everyone in the group is to listen to the rest of the group member’s opinions and ideas.
  2. Another way is to decide that there would be no group leader, so that everyone in the group has to work together in order to successfully complete the project with out any problems.

Find TWO current media topics which you consider to be social justice or moral issues.

1.     Australia’s position on the death penalty:

1. Describe one media account of this issue.

One media account is “Officially, Australia has a long-standing principled opposition to capital punishment. The death penalty has been abolished in Australia.”, but “Australia’s position now seems to be that Australians should not be executed but other people can be.”

2. Where did you get this media account from?

I found this media account from an internet source.

3. Is this media account correct or reliable? Why?

It is hard to decide whether this media account is correct or reliable, based on the fact that this source is based on the writer’s opinion.

4. Where else might you be able to find more information about this issue?

Another source, in which you are able to find out more information about this issue could be the television, specifically the news.

     2. Terrorism:

1. Describe one media account of this issue.

One media account is “The atrocities of 9/11 and Bali understandably inspired fear in the minds of many Australians and so the desire to escape from an atmosphere of fear into a climate of greater security is a natural reaction. Besides, as terrorism often violates the most basic of human rights, the right to life, there is a duty for the state to respond.”

I found this media account from an internet source.

3. Is this media account correct or reliable? Why?

It is hard to decide whether this media account is correct or reliable, based on the fact that this source is based on the writer’s opinion.

4. Where else might you be able to find more information about this issue?

Another source, in which you are able to find out more information about this issue could be the television, specifically the news. Another media piece in which more information could be found are in the newspapers.

1. How well did your group work?

I think my group worked pretty good throughout the whole project as a whole, the project was handed in and completed on time, and the individual assessment was also completed excellently and handed in on time.

2. Would you work with the sanme group of students again? Why?

Yes, I would work with the same group again, because of the reasons that I have stated in the above question.

3. How much effort did you put into this project?  What could you have done better?

I think that I put a lot of time and effort into this project, and I think that I was working to the best of my ability.

4. Do you think your final wikispace was your best work? Why? 

Yes, I do think that is was my best work, because of the fact that I had placed a lot of time and effort into this project.

5. What did you think of the project when you received it? Why?

At first I thought that this project was going to be the hardest project so far, and that it was going to take more then 5 weeks to complete, because as soon as I looked at the amount of words that had to be written I thought it was to hard, but that wasn’t the case.

6. What do you think of the project now you have completed it? Why?

I think that the project was pretty boring, only because the whole project was based around just finding information on artworks, There weren’t any interactive andn fun activities, etc…
